Unregistered NSX-V Manager from vCD Environment

After completing the v2t migration project that I involved with. It's time now to decommission or unregistered the old NSX-V Manager to the vCD.


Note:

  • Make sure that there is no Org VDCs used the NSX-V objects

  • Make sure VXLAN network pool managed by NSX-V Manager is not actively in used


Here is the procedure:

  • Login ssh to the primary cell and Run Cloud Director Backup - /opt/vmware/appliance/bin/create-backup.sh

  • Create VM Cell snapshot

  • Get the relevant vCenter ID for the site you are working on.

  • Here is the output


  • Remove the nsxVManager element from the payload received from the GET and then PUT it back.

  • This part need to remove

  • Run the PUT call to remove the nsxVManager element

  • Here is the output. We notice now that the nsxVManager element successfully removed

  • Remember to update the password field with the correct password for the vCenter

  • You can remove the cell snapshot at this point

  • Then Shut down and decommission the old NSX-V manager.
